New England Quilt Museum part 3 from Humble Quilts

Here are some of my favorites that were on display. These are part of the NEQM collection.

This quilt was huge and hard to photograph.

Keep an eye on the sashing of this quilt.

Simple but effective and so charming!

Here's a sweet dolly quilt in the NEQM collection.

The quilt Laura holds (on the right) was the little quilt she made for me for the Humble Quilt swap!

And here it is up close and personal. I LOVE it and treasure it!

I hope you enjoyed the exhibits I shared from the New England Quilt Museum.

Medallion Quilts NEQM from Humble Quilts

The American Quilt Study Group had an amazing exhibit of medallion quilts at the New England Quilt Museum. I'm sharing some of them today.

From the NEQM:
AQSG members were challenged to select and study an individual “medallion-style” quilt. Each participant either chose to make a small replica or create a new quilt using the original as inspiration. The NEQM Genre Gallery features 25 of these medallion-style quilts along with photographs of the original inspiration quilts, most of which span the 19th century. Included are personal statements about what the quiltmaker learned during the process and their reflections on ...

My last trip to New England  was specifically to go to the New England Quilt Museum and see the special exhibit Barb Veddar curated called "Personal Expression: The Legacy of Gwen Marston"

I snapped photos of the quilts I recognized and by friends I know with quilts in the exhibot.

New England Quilt Musem from Humble Quilts

I was fortunate to be able to visit the New England Quilt Museum in 2022 and 2023. Lowell, MA is a town with so much history. The west coast is young and I do appreciate the differences in areas of the USA. The above photo is now apartments but used to be a fabric mill.

The New England Quilt Museum is in a wonderful historic building.

Lowell, MA

Beginning September 12 and running through December 30 the special exhibit will be
Marston Retrospective Exhibit

I am honored to have 2 quilts in this exhibit, both started in a class with ...

Uptown BOM+ Museum Quilts from Humble Quilts

It was a little dark when I finished this block last night. Uptown block 15.
Whoop! Whoop! I think we are closing in to the end!

Look at this adorable little dolly quilt that was at the New England Quilt Museum!

I like that it is a wee bit humble.

At first glance I'm never a fan of this style of quilt.....

But an upclose look changes my mind really fast!

I'll bid you adieu with this lovely couple!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Southern Quilts from Humble Quilts

I was able to get to the New England Quilt Museum last week when we were in Lowell, MA.

The special exhibit was Southern Quilts. I'm going to share a few of my favorites!(they all were!)

CELEBRATING TRADITIONS, HISTORY, AND DESIGNS

Mary Kerr, Guest Curator

The American South has a rich quilting history, steeped in tradition and passed down through the generations. The glorious designs, colors and patterns are unique to this region of the United States. The quilts created here reflect the influence of multiple cultural traditions brought to the region over the last four centuries.

New England Quilt Museum Part 2 and Cotton Mills from Humble Quilts

Barb Veddar's quilts were still on exhibit when I was at the museum. Was so good to see some of her collection!

A small section of her Lincoln quilt.

We found the Boott Mills Museum to be fascinating!
That is in downtown Lowell, MA.

On our way to Parsonfield we accidently came by the Cocheco Mills! This is in Dover, NH.

So many towns, rivers and areas we saw had quilt lines designed with their names. That was cool to be able to put them together.

I hope you week is going great!

New England Quilt Museum from Humble Quilts

Laurie didn't need to convince me too hard to join her on a trip to quilty trip to New England.
Our first stop was the New England Quilt Museum.
The antique quilts displayed were beautiful!

I'll let the quilts speak for themselves!

I thought I took a photo of the tag, but I cannot find it in my photos now. This quilt is older than Oregon! hahaha

Extraordinary chintz!

And I think the Piony was my favorite. For all the Humble Quilts kind of reasons.

Laura Lane works part time at the museum, so we got to spend ...
